I've been acquainted with Sheryl for quite some time and she has never been one to take pictures, so when she called me and wanted to schedule a portrait session I immediately had to sit down and juggled listening to her words on the other end of the phone all while my heart was nervously beating away because I became frantic at the thought that she is a tough cookie and will be a difficult subject to photograph. My thoughts were so far off of who she truly is on the other end of the lens!
Sheryl's conversation with me that day was all about survival and a new outlook on her precious life. Sheryl told me all about an ordeal that she survived and walked away from, and how her pending birthday made her want to do new things because of the blessing of a second chance to simply live.
Sheryl arrived wearing orange and blue and announced that she chose these colors because she knew how much I love my high school and these are the colors representing O. Perry Walker. I was deeply touched by that selfless and kind act and couldn't find the right words to express how much this really touched me. I'm telling you there is something so loving, good, and genuine about her!
Sheryl's spirit was fun and easy going. She was a natural. Sheryl was so comfortable and her outer beauty radiated with her inner gorgeousness! She was a pleasure to photograph! Her new lease on life should captivate us all to reflect and remember that tomorrow is never promised and to live today like it is your last. Love those around you. Smile often and laugh more! Spin around in the sun on a crowded boardwalk like you're the only person there!
Life is precious. Go live it!
